About the Event
Sunday April 10th- Opening reception with special guest speaker, Ian Trevethan, Education Director for the Sternberg Museum. Trevethan will give a brief talk with a guided tour through this National Science Foundation funded pop-up exhibition. In Search of Earth’s Secrets is a special project sponsored by the Sternberg Museum of Natural History that brings the exciting discoveries of the JOIDES Resolution deep sea research vessel to rural communities.
In Search of Earth's Secrets is a 5-year project designed to create exciting “pop-up” science events in the style of pop-up restaurants, stores, and art fairs. The project involves working with libraries, Girl Scouts and other youth organizations, program scientists, educators, and museums across the country. The In Search of Earth's Secrets exhibit allows audiences to enjoy hands-on experience while learning about exciting science topics researched by the JOIDES Resolution such as earthquakes, volcanoes, and the extinction of the dinosaurs.
In Search of Earth's Secrets will be at the Deines from April 10th to April 22nd. Call 785-483-3742 for more information.
