Plaid on the Plains

The mission is to encourage local shoppers to stay local and explore the options available and invite area shoppers to discover the benefits of shopping Russell. Businesses and organizations may participate on a single day or on multiple days. Specials may be offered throughout the weekend or be limited to a certain day or during certain hours.

To be included in the 2023 shop sheet, completed registrations must be received at Encore Antiques and Collectables at 590 South Fossil Street in Russell no later than Friday, November 17. Please include your address, phone number and business hours during the Plaid on the Plains weekend. The only costs associated with Plaid on the Plains are those costs incurred for specials and promotions you offer.

Each participating business or organization will be asked to provide up to 150 items to add to the shopping bag provided by Russell County Convention and Visitors Bureau when shoppers visit their store. Any business, group or organization is welcome to place items in the shopping bags (coupons, brochures or magnets). These items must be received at Encore no later than November 22.

When you visit an independent local business you keep more money in your local economy, you celebrate the uniqueness of your community, you support local jobs, you help the environment, you encourage community, you conserve your tax dollars, you benefit from local expertise, you invest in entrepreneurship and you make the community a destination.
